Leaked Microsoft Research Shows The Market Is Embracing Bing And ChatGPT's Potential To 'challenge Google's Monopoly'
- The survey revealed positive market sentiment regarding Bing and ChatGPIT's potential to challenge Google's search engine.
- The market "welcomes the change" and Microsoft's Bing "levels the playing field with Google Search," the study says.
- There were concerns about ChatGPT's lack of fact-checking features and the profitability of Microsoft's investment in OpenAI.
Microsoft is suddenly not boring.
According to a confidential report recently prepared for Microsoft, the software giant has the opportunity to challenge Google's online search dominance by partnering with OpenAI and ChatGPIT technologies.
Sprinklr, which analyzes online sentiment, looked at a wide range of opinions about Microsoft, the Bing search engine, ChatGPIT and Google. He expressed very positive feelings about the ChatGPT-Bing alliance. The first fruits of this partnership will be revealed on Tuesday.
Online conversations about Microsoft's Bing-ChatGPT partnership have been largely positive, "showing that the market is receptive to change," according to the survey. Many people "see ChatGPT + Bing as a 'threat' or 'challenge' to Google Search," he added.
"Bing can leverage the power of ChatGPT to improve results and challenge Google's monopoly," says the report, marked Microsoft Confidential. "Consumers see this as a step to 'level the playing field'." Insider obtained a copy of the report. A Microsoft spokesman did not respond to a request for comment Monday.
The study took data from news publications and online services, including Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Reddit, from late November to early January.
The findings point to one of the reasons why Microsoft is expanding its partnership with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot that took the world by storm after its release in late November. Earlier this month, Microsoft announced a major new investment in OpenAI. Previous reports revealed that the software giant plans to integrate OpenAI technology into some of its products, such as Office applications.
"Big year for Bing."
According to Sprinkler's research, people were particularly excited about Microsoft's investment in OpenAI, which some have called a "forward-looking" move. They are "looking forward" to more ChatGPT functionality in Office products, and many are surprised by the rapidly growing partnership, he said.
They said they were "happy" that integrating ChatGPT with Office applications would improve efficiency and productivity, while some said they would "switch to Bing," which could "challenge" search dominance from "Google," according to the study. .
"The GPT integration could give Microsoft a competitive advantage as Microsoft continues to build out its AI and machine learning offerings," the internal report said. "Some are anticipating a big year for Bing and are excited about 'exciting additions to search.'
Some people have said that the GPT chat user experience is "weird" or "awful".
Not all reactions were positive. Some are particularly concerned about ChatGPT's lack of fact-checking and uncertainty surrounding privacy, a major concern with its use in an educational setting. Some say ChatGPT's user experience is "amazing" or "terrible" and question the profitability of investing in AI research firms like OpenAI, according to the study.
However, Chat GPT's "human" responses were considered attractive and a big improvement to current search engine mailing lists, he said. The report says that Microsoft can "redouble efforts to ensure the accuracy of results" and that this new technology "must take into account how professionals and students use it to complete tasks".
But Microsoft's enthusiasm for partnering with ChatGPIT is described in a slide from the report that calls the chatbot "a hilarious way to figure out how Microsoft can beat Google by integrating ChatGPIT with Bing."
ChatGPT replied:
"Once upon a time there was a search engine called Bing.
He fought without doing much
But on the chatgpt side
He finally has his pride
And Google left looking for the next flygoth."
