Tips For Successful Marketing

Tips For Successful Marketing

We all agree that marketing is fundamental and important to the success of any business. And marketing is a broad term that covers many mediums: internet/content/web/social media/advertising/PR/PR etc. Most medium and large companies have a marketing department that deals with these issues, so the focus is always on the business. It's confusing that many small businesses think it's a do-it-yourself project.

In my years of consulting with small businesses and nonprofits, I've found that they set big goals when it comes to marketing their businesses. But in the daily routine of production, creation, customer service, purchasing, sales... Marketing takes a back seat. Thinking of a Facebook post at 2am is not marketing or strategy. Marketing requires a plan. Marketing also requires support and expertise.

So, here are the dos and don'ts.

What to do:

- Discover your market. Who is your ideal customer? Only you know, and you should find the time to write it. Your ideal client may be over 50 years old. If so, your selection of marketing countries should reach 50+. women: Same thing. Men. The same thing. 20 something, same thing. Hire an expert to help you find the right marketing resources for your product/business/client

— Now that you know your target audience, find them. Write down customer names and email addresses. Create an online design for your website, social media or store. Save to database. Buy a very cheap e-newsletter company. Use your database to get the word out about your business

— Do you have a product that you want to sell to other stores/companies? Do not rely on internet marketing or advertising as the only source of reaching these companies. Get up from the chair. Make a list of potential companies that could buy your product. Go to them and give them information, pictures, price lists and ways to purchase your products. You have contracts ready to sign. (PS: sample contract needed. Get legal help.) And think about the possibilities. If you only have a small amount of inventory, make sure potential customers know you can't fill large orders quickly. Businesses survive, grow and thrive because of personal connections

- Customize your marketing to fit your budget. This includes organization fees, advertising, website creation and updates, social media enhancements, printed materials, signage, corporate sponsorships and trade shows.

- Join the community and participate in events

- Join your Chamber of Commerce. They are a great source of advertising for your business, and they do it for free

- Create a plan. Even if it's just one marketing event a week, make a plan and stick to it. Don't let the stress of running a business get in the way of your marketing efforts

— If possible, hire experts or attend workshops/webinars to learn more about how to do it yourself. But always stick to your plan

- Attend trade shows and company events that give you the opportunity to showcase your company, services, products... and the names and email addresses of your email blasts.

— Make sure your communication is mobile-friendly

What can't be done?

- Do not create your own site. Hire a professional who will do it right the first time and ensure regular updates and search engine optimization. When you're building your website, don't leave it idle for months. Keep it updated and fresh

— Don't think that a random post on social media will lead to sales. You need to take the time to build your social media audience and make sure that audience receives regular and creative communication. Hire a professional

“Don't generalize. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all marketing strategy. Every company, every product has a base market. Know your market and find a way to reach it with targeted communications

- Do not imitate the competition. Keep your content unique

"Don't isolate yourself. They call it PR because it's about audience relations. Free stuff (free media) updates what you do

Knowing your market, creating unique content on your website, social media and customer communication, and excellent customer service are the first steps to successful marketing for our company. Also consider different platforms to tell your story. And remember, personal approach always closes the deal.
